JSC “Rostov Port” has developed its own software for monitoring all work processes in the port. According to the regional correspondent of information agency PortNews, IT specialist of the company Petr Popichenko at the industry conference «Russian River Transportation 2019» announced this.
According to him, currently 90% of Russian ports work in Excel at best. JSC “Rostov Port” was interested in using a specialized software product 10 years ago, and appeals to various institutions did not yield results. Therefore, the company's management made decisions to create its own software product.
Popichenko has specified that on working out and introduction of the software “Cargo port” it has taken 5 years. He told that the program is intended, first of all, for managers and visually shows, what vessels are on what area, what cars have arrived in port, how there is an accumulation in warehouses. Users have an opportunity to track when the vessel arrived, was placed under the berth, the beginning of loading and unloading, demurrage, etc.
“With one click, the manager receives all the information about the cargo, the client, and the direction of the cargo - loading or unloading. A very large amount of information is gathered here,” explained the IT specialist.
Currently, the port is negotiating with a grain company on the integration of two software products, which, in particular, will allow customers to apply for the receipt of vehicles not in a day's notice in paper form (as now), and online.
JSC “Rostov Port” has the status of a seaport, accepts foreign-flagged vessels, the opening and closing of the state border. Ships are sent from the port to the countries of the Black Sea and Mediterranean basins.
